I was trying to copy my grandma's watercolor style, this is kind of similar to how she always drew flowers and plants.

Lume

My brother was starting to get a little acne at the time, and I was not nice about it.

Wacky Doll

This was, if I am remembering properly, a Polly Pocket doll that I had.

This is one of those purple wildflowers that you see all over the side of the road in Virginia. They're really beautiful, and I had a website when I was a kid where I'd post plants and people would help me identify them.

Bugout

I drew my dad and brother at a car show we went to together. I drew my brother as an annoying monkey child because he was very hyperactive and running all over the place. And yes, that is the beginning of a belly that I was not going to shy away from drawing on my Dad.

I was often waiting after school for my Mom to be off work, since she worked at my school. If you see me drawing on something random, it's because I found some scrap of paper in her office and hid under her desk drawing until we could go.

I started taking private art lessons with a teacher from George Mason through my school. She started me on cubes and was expanding to lighting rounded surfaces.

This was almost definitely something I used to warn my brother that he was starting to annoy me. I had a very short temper and he was the only person around sometimes.

Anime Characters

After tracing things A LOT, I decided to see if all that practice had paid off and carefully draw some characters that I liked. It turns out, even if you're just tracing, your hand remembers the movements and gets better.

Goku and Vegeta

I used to always got to my friend Hawraa's house after school to hang out, and one of the things we always did together was watch DBZ. Sometimes she or her siblings would ask me to draw things for them.

Aspen

There was this little kid who lived behind our house named Aspen. He was always getting picked on by his brother Gage, so I'd scare his brother off when we were hanging out so he could just play on the playground with Deshawn and I. It was nice. I miss that kid.

Yugi

Fun fact: this was my most popular T shirt order that people wanted me to do for them. I hand painted T shirts for people at $10/shirt, then $20/shirt once I realized I wasn't making any money.

This one I made for my brother. You can even see where it says "To Lume" on it.
