Capturing a Moment

Alexandria - Age 16

We went on a trip to Alexandria for summer vacation. The weather was HOT. The sea was beautiful. I definitely got a sunburn and cut up my feet on the coral. The way the sea looks when it's clear and blue has never been captured in a photo properly.

Giza - Age 16

We were in Giza staying at my aunt's house this summer, and I took this photo from her balcony. Not only are the pyramids huge, but the apartment is literally as close as you can get without living on a military base.

Palm Tree - Age 16

This was from that same trip to Egypt with my first camera. I was still getting the hang of photo composition, and what types of subjects I liked in my photos.

Driveway - Age 16

I was standing on the driveway taking photos of the trees, just enjoying the warm breeze. This was one of the first times I realized that you don't need as much skill to take an amazing photo if what you're looking at is already beautiful.

Blossoms - Age 16

I got a camera as a Christmas present, and decided to start taking photos of literally everything. I wanted to take Photography, but didn't have enough empty spots in my schedule with TV Production, Computer Graphics, Art, and Animation.

New York - Age 16

I went on a class trip to New York to visit the MoMa, the Met, and Soho. This is one of the few surviving photos, because my hard drive crashed when I got back. I lost nearly all of my artwork and photos. I also lost the very last photos of my friend before she died, and I still have the hard drive in case technology is ever able to recover them.

Egypt - Age 16

I went to an Amr Diab concert, who was my favorite Egyptian artist at the time. It was really fun, and I loved how the lighting looked as it was coming from the stage. This was taken with my first camera in low light, so it's hard to make much out, but somehow it still gives the feeling of a concert really well.

Virginia - Age 16

This was the view from my Mom's farm in the morning every day as we left for school. The sky was beautiful, it was quiet, and all around you was flat and spacious enough to see the sky's many colors.
